Thought, deliberation and brainstorming have all played their part in naming my upcoming playing cards, which makes it all the more exciting to finally announce the name of the deck:
VIZAĜO – [Vi-za-djoh] is the Esperanto word for face – and alongside visually describing the artwork, I really like the idea of a global language with dreams of uniting humanity across borders. VIZAĜO playing cards are all about faces and colour, connections, playfulness and exuberance :) With both name and lettering taking form, the tuckbox design is just around the corner …
Introducing The Ace of Spades
Two faces look in opposite direction within the Ace of Spades – one upright and one up-side-down – symbolising that clarity of mind comes with the ability to see things from more than one perspective…
Another look at number cards …
This idea for the number cards is about bringing the classic pip (or suit symbol) together with a face in profile, to create a symmetrical flow – where the detail in the faces is balanced against the solid colour of the pip shape (in this case, the spade):
November Special on Playing Cards
As part of my November specials – Nine Lives Playing Cards (poker size) are currently available at HALF price. Be quick though, as this offer ends at midnight (Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time) 10 November :)
Thank you for visiting and take care!
Annette :)
Hi Annette,
Love the idea of adding something to the suit symbol. Faces in profile will fit perfectly well in there.
Looking forward to see how you develop this concept, after seeing this first example.
Great stuff!
Thanks for popping in Johan, and for your feedback on the suit symbols – I like this idea best of the ones I’ve explored to date, and look forward to trying it on the other suits. :)
I absolutely love the name.
Thank you Diane, that is fabulous to hear! :)
